Boston University School of Management houses a state of the art, technology-enabled classroom. The classroom is configured with six team tables, each with their own LCD screen, and one large digital tablet at the front of the room. The software-equipped tablet, called a Mondopad, features a digital whiteboard with internet capabilities.
The Mondopad also offers the ability to bring in guest lecturers through TelePresence, where participants and faculty can interact virtually with speakers from whom they might otherwise not have the opportunity to learn. Slides and lessons for the day can be simultaneously projected around the room on the six smaller LCD screens.
This digital classroom is the future of management education, expanding the options for the traditional lectures and case discussions. The School of Management, which specializes in information systems, is confident the classroom will create a richer and more engaging environment for undergraduate, graduate, and executive education students alike.
