1st-year Elections: 2012-2013 Cohort Representative Positions

The MS•MBA Association’s Executive Board meets every other week to plan and coordinate various activities for our members. These range from Learn @ Lunches, to social mixers, to our main annual event, TechConnect. We are looking for three 1st year representatives to join our board, one from each Cohort. The 1st year reps help us stay connected with our newest classmates, as well as help us plan and run all of our events.

Interested? Elections will take place towards the end of September, dates to be announced. You will need to submit a 1-page platform via email, which outlines (briefly!) your background and why you are running for this position. If you have any questions about the association, the e-board or running for a position, please don’t hesitate to get in touch with us!

Jeffrey Kaplan, Founder and Managing Director, THINKstrategies (@thinkstrategies)
Jeff Kaplan is the Founder and Managing Director of THINKstrategies, a strategic consulting firm that helps IT enterprise decision-makers with their sourcing strategies; solution providers with their marketing strategies; and venture firms with their investment strategies. Kaplan is also the founder of the Managed Service Showplace® and Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) Showplace® free, online directories. THINKstrategies’ online directories provide an easy-to-use listing of SaaS solutions by application and MSPs by service category, and extensive information and insight about industry best practices to help organizations fully leverage the growing array of SaaS solutions and managed services.

Matthew Bellows, Chief Executive Officer, Yesware (@mbellows)
Matthew is responsible for sales, product vision and strategic direction of the company. As a founder of the company, Matthew brings more than 10 years of extensive sales experience to the company’s goal of helping salespeople close more deals faster. Prior to Yesware, Matthew was the Vice President of Sales and Consumer Strategy at Vivox, the market leader in voice for digital worlds. He previously served as General Manager and Board Member at Floodgate (acquired by Zynga) and as Founder/CEO of WGR Media (acquired by CNET Networks). Matthew earned his B.A from Naropa University and his M.B.A. magna cum laude from Babson College.

Ed Mallen, Chief Executive Officer, TimeTrade (@Ed_Mallen)
Ed Mallen has over 25 years of professional management experience in software and systems. He started his career at IBM. As vice president of US sales at Interleaf he was part of the team that built the company to $100 million in sales, an IPO and subsequent financings. As vice president of software products for Xerox Imaging Systems he led the marketing and development of TextBridge, which became the premiere OCR product in the world. He joined Xionics as an executive vice president at an early stage, and helped grow the company to $40 million in sales, building the sales, support, product management and marketing teams that positioned Xionics for a successful IPO. As president and CEO of Profile Systems he led the company’s success in pursuing vertical markets and solutions, leading to acquisition by Comergent Technologies, where he became a Senior Vice President. A graduate of Macalester College in St. Paul, he was a member of the board of eCopy until their very successful sale to Nuance Communications. He is also on the board of HealthWyse, integrated clinical and financial information software and services to home health, hospice and private duty agencies, and LeveragePoint, a collaboration platform for B2B companies that enables them to successfully negotiate sales with their customers through value based pricing.

Eric Hansen, Chief Executive Officer, SiteSpect (@ericjhansen)
Eric is the CEO and founder of SiteSpect, and the chief architect of the firm’s non-intrusive technology for multivariate testing, behavioral targeting and digital marketing optimization.

Prior to SiteSpect, Eric was the founder and CEO of Worldmachine Technologies, an Internet development and consulting firm specializing in large-scale web engineering projects for organizations such as John Hancock Insurance, Putnam Investments, Hearst New Media, and The New England Journal of Medicine.

Prior to Worldmachine, Eric held product management and software engineering positions at several Boston-based technology firms including Princeton Transportation Consulting Group (, Raytheon Company, and the Center for Clinical Computing at Harvard Medical School.

Eric is a frequent speaker at conferences covering web analytics and optimization, and writes regularly on topics dealing with the intersection of marketing and technology. He received a degree in Cognitive Science and Psychology with honors from the University of Rochester in Rochester, NY.

Chuck Goldman. Chief Strategy Officer, Apperian (@chuckyg)
Chuck has been a entrepreneur for as long as he can remember. Opting out of the family leather business, Chuck’s passion has always been in technology – specifically disruptive technology that transforms people and industries. Chuck founded Applied CD Technologies, the country’s first PhotoCD imaging service bureau in the early 90s to help companies prepare their images and content for the internet. Chuck went on to launch Interactive Media Solutions – a company that helped colleges customize and personalize their websites based on prospective student interest. At IMS, Chuck created America’s first “virtual open house” where students, faculty, and staff communicated in real-time and conducted virtual online leader-led campus tours. He then spent seven years as a Director at Apple, Inc where he helped integrate Apple technologies into Apple’s largest enterprise customer infrastructures. Chuck also led Apple’s iPhone Enterprise Beta Program program and helped Apple’s earliest adopters leverage iOS to empower a mobile workforce since the day it launched.

Chuck leveraged his experience at Apple with mobility and he assembled a leadership team that raised $24 million from Kleiner Perkins iFund and several other top VCs and founded Apperian in 2009. Apperian has established the Mobile Application Management market and has been providing mobile strategy consulting and it’s award winning enterprise management software EASE to the Fortune 500 including Cisco, Proctor and Gamble, Barclays, and other top enterprises. As Chief Strategy Officer, leads the company’s strategic initiatives and business development.
